A Father's Words of Wisdom and Life
As a parent we all strive to do our best to raise our children. Constantly wondering if you did the right thing or said the right thing. In many cases we are a product of our up bringing and environment. There is no book on how to raise a kid, you just do what you have to do and what you think is right.
I wrote these words of wisdom from either quotes that I have heard over my time, words that were passed down to me, and some original words that I feel are important to pass down to my own kids. I have this printed and framed on a 11X17 page that hangs between the kids bedroom.

A Father’s Words of Wisdom and Life
·
Wake
up every morning with a sense of purpose. Thrive to become a better person in
this world. Set goals for yourself, long term and short. Keep your mind focused
and driven, but leave your spirit free
·
Make
it a point to turn off your phone, step away from your computer and engage in
those around you. Learn from your environment and talk face to face, eye to eye
with real people
·
Learn
to breathe, not just to breathe to stay alive, but to breathe to ground
yourself. Learn to do yoga or meditate
·
Never
let anyone tell you that you cannot do anything, not even yourself. You are a
special person and can do anything in this world
·
Never
be afraid to give someone a hug. It bonds you to that person and shows more
gratitude than words can express. It’s only awkward if you make it awkward
·
If
you do something stupid, make sure you make things right. If you do something
really stupid and realize it half way through, just act crazy. Everyone can
deal with a crazy person, but nobody likes a stupid person…
·
Always
do the right thing, even if it causes you pain
·
Find
a healthy vise that allows you to let go of everything and clear your mind.
Something that connects you to nature or surrounded by it
·
Opinions
are like assholes, we all have them and they all stink
·
Follow
your intuition and trust in yourself. Never second guess yourself. Do not let
others change your mind or convince you otherwise. Be open, but stay true to
yourself
·
True
friendships is like a fine wine, build them slowly and start with a foundation
built on honor, loyalty, humor, compassion, and trust
·
When
you do build these friendships do not ask more of them than you are willing to
give
·
Nobody
is perfect, including you
·
Learn
a trade or skill that does not rely on electronics or computers. When all else
fails you will always have something to fall back on
·
When
you move out of the house, adopt a dog. This will teach you to take care of
something other than yourself
·
Only
believe half of what you read and nothing of what you hear. Experience it for
yourself
·
Make
the effort to watch a sunrise and sunset as often as you can. To watch a new
day come to life and pass is a reminder that no day should be wasted
·
Learn
to be selfless and compassionate. Give back to others and charities and volunteer
your time. Your life will be more fulfilling
·
Have
a healthy sense of fear. You can control it, but do not let it control you.
Never show fear in the face of adversity or your enemies
·
When
you start dating, expect to learn and grow. Not everyone is meant for each
other. When things do not work out, take the good things away from it and move
on
·
Don’t
dwell on the past or worry about the future. You cannot change what has
happened and cannot predict what will happen. Live in the moment and take life
as it comes
